What makes The Little Alchemist Skin Care different from other skin care lines?

The Little Alchemist produtcs are unique because they successfully combine cosmecutical level active ingredients with the highest quality natural & organic ingredients, in pure, safe and clean formulas. The Little Alchemist range is the ideal choice for people who want luxurious and pure skin care but do not want to sacrifice results.
Some other skin care formulations generally use inexpensive ingredients and low percentages of active ingredients. Companies put ingredients on the label so the customer sees them but the percentages are often too low to get any results. These products are formulated for the masses and their main goal is to be safe and cause no problems. They are not formulated to deliver results. They “moisturize” the skin at best. Cheap ingredients will not feed the skin. The Little Alchemist formulas are like “food for your skin”.

What does “Cosmecutical” mean?

Cosmecutical ingredients are highly active ingredients used at high levels in order to get results. Some of the most common Cosmecutical ingredients we use are; vitamins, peptides & anti-oxidants. Please see our ingredient section for full details on all of these and other effective cosmecutical ingredients.

Why can I expect to get better results from The Little Alchemist products?

There are three key factors is making cosmecuticals formulations effective: proper cleansing and exfoliating of the skin, feeding and stimulating the skin cells with highly penetrating active ingredients, and correction of standing skin conditions. If these three areas are addressed with high quality products the skin will be clear, balanced and glowing with good health.

How do synthetic colors, fragrances and preservatives interfere with the health of my skin?

At The little Alchemist we believe skincare should be entirely free from chemical preservatives and additives. Several highly respected published reports have emerged implicating Paraben as potential carcinogens in breast cancer, uterine cancer, and most recently, skin cancer. Why would anyone want to put this stuff on their skin, the most easily absorbable place on the body?
Since Parabens are found in 99 percent of products used on the skin, this is a serious issue in the skin care industry. Further, the cumulative effect of low exposures of Paraben over a period of time has not been properly investigated yet. Currently, the Children’s Health Environmental Coalition advises that parents and pregnant women avoid products that contain Paraben altogether. Common side effects from Paraben and other chemicals include skin irritation, rash, clogged pores, dermatitis and other allergic skin reactions. These are not only unsightly and uncomfortable but can lead to premature aging of the skin. There seems to be no doubt that Paraben can seriously interfere with nature’s power to provide us with vibrant health and beautiful skin. We say, “you don’t need them, so why use them”?

What alternative, natural preservative system does The Little Alchemist use to preserve products?

The most significant chemical additives that The Little Alchemist avoids at all costs are: Parabens; Formaldehyde; Sodium Laural Sulfates; PEG; Propylene Glycol; Phenoxyethanol; Synthetic Fragrances; Synthetic Colours and Mineral Oils.
The Little Alchemist formulates with a natural preservative system called Naticide which can be listed as either “fragrance, parfum or vanilla & almond extracts” in order to provide a full spectrum of protection from bacteria and microbes. It is a vegetable based preservative with a vanilla & almond aroma. Very few companies use alternatives because they are more expensive and more difficult to find. However, there are many natural preservative systems that can be utilized like Naticide which is an extremely effective, but completely natural preservative. We use it to keep our products fresh and pure without the use of cheap and nasty Parabens and other chemical preservatives.

Why does The Little Alchemist only have non foaming cleansers?

Cleansing the skin is a very important part to maintaining a healthy and glowing complexion, but contrary to popular beliefs and what many people think (especially those with an oilier skin types) mistakenly assume they need a soapy foaming cleanser but in actual fact, your skin should never feel dry or tight after cleansing. The detergents used in the foaming cleansers can have a devastating effect on your skin as it strips the skin’s natural protective oils, leaving the skin vulnerable to dehydration, sensitivity, chemical and pollutant invasion. This in turn can cause your skin to activate an oversupply of oil to compensate for the loss, leading to an imbalance in the natural oil flow within the skin. This is why you won’t find them in The Little Alchemist range.
We use organic and natural plants oils as the basis for our cleansing products to create a gentle and nourishing experience for your skin to leave it feeling fresh and thoroughly cleansed. they gel naturally with the skin’s own oils and adhere to waste without stripping the skin’s precious and essential protective barrier. Instead, these oils help to secure the moisture required for hydration, balance and repair.
So we suggest The Little Alchemist cleansing method instead to support, strengthen and help rebuild the skin’s own barrier function…. its natural oil layer. Give it a try…. you might just be surprised.
